Abstract :
The deformations, which typical television transients suffer in single-sideband systems are shown. The distortion is due to a spurious component added in quadrature to the genuine signal. Distortion increases with the depth of modulation and with the ratio of the signal band width to the width occupied by the cutting slope of the sideband-suppressing filter. It also depends on the shape of the cutting slope.
