Turbine-Generator Shaft Stresses Due to Network Disturbances A Bibliography with Abstracts

Recent investigations have identified potentially harmful interactions between the slowly decaying mechanical oscillations in turbine-generator shaft systems and certain automatic switching operations to restore transmission networks from disturbances. To minimize the risk of potentially serious damage due to accumulative fatigue from the spectrum of network disturbances ex. perienced by generators during their service life, turbine-generator manufacturers have recommended elimination of certain automatic network switching operations.
