Abstract
A synthetic test circuit has been developed to test high-voltage circuit-breakers with respect to their making and auto-reclosing performance at full voltage and full current. The validity of making tests performed at full parameters or at reduced voltahage is checked. The test circuit is applied upon a 420 kV SF6 puffer type circuit-breaker with two breaks per phase. Testing this circuit-breaker can be considered of special interest; particular attention has to be paid to its pre-arcing conditions as due to its high no minal voltage per break.
