Abstract
Some electrostatic devices may be analyzed by considering them to be periodic in space. Analyses of other devices may be made using a space-periodic method although the device itself does not exhibit any space-periodicity. A helpful tool in these cases appears to be the steady-state transform employed in time-periodic analyses. A brief description of the direct and inverse transform is presented along with the methods of evaluating the inverse transform. The two types of solutions obtainable from the inverse transform are also discussed. The first application of the transform is of a space-charge configuration that varies in a one-dimensional manner and that is space-periodic. Curves of the resulting distributions of the potential and electric field intensity are presented. The second application is that of determining the potential in a shielded box assumed two-dimensional for convenience. Two different dielectrics are present and curves of the potential distribution are presented.
