Abstract :
The performance evaluation of trellis-coded modulation (TCM) schemes and intersymbol interference (ISI) channels via union bounds involves a transfer function computation of an error-state diagram which enumerates all possible error events. This letter presents a new method for obtaining equivalent error-state diagrams with a reduced number of states.
