Abstract :
It is shown that any real rational function with arbitrary zeros and pure imaginary poles, all preassigned except for a factor p^{r} in either the numerator or denominator, is the characteristic function of a filter which may be realized by a transformerless, inductance, capacitance ladder terminated in resistance if r is sufficiently great.
