Abstract :
The read response of a giant magnetoresistive (GMR) sensor was calculated using a micromagnetic model taking into account the full interaction between a GMR sensor and a double-layered medium. The simulated results showed that the magnetic interaction between the sensor and the recording medium scarcely influenced the signal waveforms and the roll-off properties. The comparison of the isolated waveform and the roll-off with those obtained from the modified Fan´s equation suggested that there is a nonlinearity in the read process of a GMR sensor.
