Surf and ride

We talk about network mobility when a network connecting to the Internet dynamically changes its point of attachment to the Internet. We can classify Network Mobility based services in two main categories: services that allow connections from the Internet to the mobile network; services that allow connections from the mobile network to the Internet. The first category includes services like remote vehicle monitoring. This requires some networks to be always reachable, for instance, some nongeostationary NASA satellites, which are prone to changing their terrestrial station of attachment. Such satellites are reachable from any place on the Earth via the same permanent IP address. The second category includes services like car appliances, which access the Internet, and mobile hotspot services.
