Abstract :
A new world of digital entertainment beckons, but industry clashes impede progress. The paper discusses the conflicts between the consumer electronics industry which wants abundant content to be readily and cheaply available to drive the sale of the new products needed to download, record, and play it, and the entertainment people who deservedly want remuneration for the use of their content.
