Abstract
The modelling results of an all optical wavelength convertor consisting of two semiconductor optical amplifiers (SOAs) in an asymmetrical Mach-Zehnder interferometric configuration are presented. The influence of the biasing mode on the extinction ratio of the converted signal is analysed, showing a preference for the destructive biasing mode. For this biasing mode, a static extinction ratio well above 20 dB in a large range of the signal power is predicted
