Abstract
Below bandgap light from a broadband source is injected into a laser and the reflection spectrum is recorded with an optical spectrum analyser. The optical waveguide loss is determined based on a Fourier series expansion. The finite resolution bandwidth of the optical spectrum analyser can be accounted for by use of a deconvolution process.
