A hardware structure is proposed for implementing twodimensional (2-D) recursive digital filters based on the residue number system (RNS). The parallel pipelined structure arising from the use of RNS arithmetic facilitates video bandwidth filtering. The realization calls for the use of ROM\´s and first-in first-out (FIFO) shift registers as the building blocks of the system. Specifically an implementation scheme of a general

filter transfer function is outlined along with simulated results.
