Abstract :
Many process applications of induction heating do not have access to proper feedback for control of output parameters. It becomes more complex in cap sealing where using non-uniformly distributed heat input on aluminum foils multiple actions are simultaneously executed to complete sealing operations. Here more than one parasitic output is present. It is an under actuated process. Large variant in cap size at uncompromised speed of sealing requirement causes serious problems for consistent quality sealing. Under actuation is more noticeable while sealing bottles of larger foil size. This article analyzes the constraints existing in induction sealing of bottles with wide range cap size and details the journey to resolve under actuation and achieve Pareto optimal solution of the process of high speed quality sealing using thin aluminum foils.
