Abstract :
In providing electric service to a utilization device which creates a variation in electrical demand, one of the considerations facing the utility is the prevention of unacceptable voltage fluctuation on the supplying system. The criteria as applied by various utilities in the United States are discussed presenting general background and development of the existing guidelines. Attention is given to how a utility can more realistically evaluate potential flicker if provided with certain information by the party requesting electric service.
