Abstract :
Expanding applications for the use of submersible pumps for source or injection wells in the recovery of petroleum products require the use of engine-driven generator sets in those remote locations for which utility power is not available. Proper generator sizing for submersible pumping installation entails consideration of equipment setting depth, cable size, and the starting parameters of the motor. These unique system characteristics are dealt with and a method of calculating the generator capacity necessary for both proper starting and continuous operation are presented.
