  • Abstract
In PV based Microgrids, the power fluctuation occurs with varying weather conditions leading to added fluctuations in the frequency which already has detrimental effects in VSC based Microgrids because of lack of inertia. The sources considered in the droop controlled Microgrids are mostly DC sources hence in this paper, a PV and battery based system is considered which helps in the better analysis of the overall Microgrid and thereby, apart from the AC control design, the DC link control is also studied in this paper. It is seen in this paper that during feeder faults, the droop control loop alone cannot help in maintaining the frequency and voltage of the system and hence when a three phase fault occurs, it is needed that the phase angle be restored to its original state so that the steady state values during pre faulted conditions are not changed. The loads taken into consideration are passive loads and motor load. The battery transients have also been studied for the aforementioned cases. The above mentioned cases have been tested for validity using the MATLAB/SEVTULINK.
