Abstract :
In recent years electric light sources have become an important tool to the plant biologist, commercial grower, and hobbyist to provide the daily irradiation necessary for the plant´s normal development. In particular, light is a limiting factor to the commercial grower during the fall, winter, and spring seasons. The characteristics of light energy emitted from electric light sources and its relationship to the plant´s photochemical processes are discussed. This should prove valuable to those who utilize these sources for plant growth.
