Abstract :
Cascaded H-bridge (CHB) multilevel converters have found extensive high power applications due to their modular structure, simpler layout, and reduced number of components. The reported work proposes a vector control method for a three phase CHB active rectifier (CHBAR) to offer the desired voltages across its dc-link capacitors and the prerequisite power factor at the grid terminals under variable load conditions. A phase shifted pulse width modulation scheme is used to generate the gate signals for the rectifier. The required reference signals for the modulation scheme are obtained by using the vector control. The validity of the proposed control is verified using the theoretical and simulation analysis.
