Abstract :
The authors first show that the gain of transform coding over PCM, the criterion for performance evaluation of a transform used in the above paper, is equivalent to the maximal-reducible-bit criterion defined by one author. Then they present a much simpler method to judge the symmetric or asymmetric performance of any discrete transform.<>
