Abstract
The use of hyperbaric chambers is now a well-established technique used in the medical field for the treatment of certain diseases or skin conditions requiring an oxygen-rich environment. Chambers can vary in size up to complete containment of the human body. The case history described deals with two specific incidents, each involving chambers at the end of decompression and patient withdrawal. Identification of electrostatic charge generation, charge retention, and possible spark ignition are detailed, together with recommendation for complete static-free operation.
