Use of Programmable Controllers for Industrial Power Distribution System Monitoring, Control, and Protection

A supervisory control system is used to improve the performance of a conventional industrial plant electrical distribution system. The control system consists of several programmable controllers located throughout a large industrial plant and intercommunicating over leased dedicated telephone lines. Described are the plant power system, supervisory control system functions, programmable controllers´ communications scheme, and control programs.
