Abstract
A compact and low-loss Y-branch splitter is designed made with a high refractive-index difference waveguide and using the authors´ wavefront matching method. The splitter was then fabricated using silica-based planar lightwave circuit technology. Excess loss was less than 0.2 dB per branch over a wide wavelength range of 1250 to 1650 nm
