Abstract :
The symmetrical six-port junction (together with a directional coupler and four power detectors) has in the ideal case been shown to be suitable for use as a six-port reflectometer. The author presents formulas that can predict the performance of such a reflectometer when the symmetrical six-port junction is nonideal. The results obtained indicate that in the presence of junction imperfections, it may be possible to effect some improvement in the performance of the reflectometer by a simple restructuring of the system configuration
