Abstract :
In this correspondence, the forward digital lattice structure (FDLS) is investigated for the realization of digital IIR filters. The FDLS can particularly be applied to stable digital recursive filters with complex coefficients. The FDLS shows the localized feedback property and is suitable for modular and concurrent implementations. Furthermore, the FDLS is well suited for the realization of variable bandwidth filters obtained after all-pass transformations. The analysis of finite word length effects shows the attractive properties of the FDLS if the respective all-pass building blocks are implemented in an efficient manner
