Abstract :
The paper deals with the phenomenon of coupling between two triangular-wave oscillators. The investigation is carried out both analytically and by a digital computer simulation. The mode of coupling chosen for the present system and the unusual structure of the oscillators enable a completely closed evaluation of the system dynamics without approximations. Conditions that enable synchronized operation of the system and conditions for mutually modulated unsynchronized oscillations are presented. The analytical treatment is made simple by employing a specially devised trigonometry, which is entitled as triangular trigonometry, and whose angles are defined on a square and not on a circle. The results of the analysis and simulation works are closely related to those obtained previously for a system of coupled sinusoidal oscillators and for a system of coupled multivibrators. A common superstructure of all these systems is identified. Some attention is given to a possible relationship of the present system to natural oscillator systems.
