Abstract
The main requirements of a marine system simulation model are surveyed. Such a model for a complete electromechanical marine system including variable pitch propeller drives is described. It is used in the prediction of the current and torque requirements of these drives, and it takes account of nonlinearities inherent in the electrical machines and drive systems. Results of a computer study showing the conditions that arise following various operational changes are presented.
