Abstract :
InP/InGaAsP diluted multiquantum well waveguides have been developed for butt-coupling with cleaved standard single-mode fibres of 11 μm diameter. Coupling losses per facet as low as -1.2 dB, with -1 dB alignment tolerances of ±2.5 μm, have been measured at 1.55 μm for both TE and TM modes
