Abstract :
The analysis of transient current and voltage waveform distortion caused by capacitor input rectifiers on power systems is performed by the Laplace transform method. Typical circuit parameters are used in order to establish the validity of the transform methods when compared to oscilloscope recordings. The analysis proceeds from the solution of a typical rectifier as a single-phase load through interaction on a three-phase "wye" power system. The effects on the neutral conductor and power system transformer are described.
