Abstract :
A high speed pulse generator is suitably connected to a length of plated wire so that the voltage drop along the wire is a strong function of plating thickness. The method is usable for measuring the thickness of an electrically conductive plating material on wire when the ratio of magnetic permeability to electrical conductivity for the substrate differs substantially from that for the plating. Measurements for silver on nickel-iron are reported for the plating range of 4.8 to 152 ¿in.
