Abstract
In a close collaboration between IHEP and CEN Saclay, a system for quench detection on a UNK superconducting string (from 4 to 100 magnets) has been designed and is under construction at Saclay. This system also enables data analysis in normal conditions or in the case of a quench. The authors describe the architectural design of the system, the hardware (microprocessors are used for the whole system), and the software. Emphasis is placed on the main problems of construction reliability, quench detection at a low level and in a very short time, high voltages, data transmission over long distances, and integration in the general system of the accelerator
