In-Plant Safety and Training at Longview Fibre Company

Satisfactory safety records and working environment are generally achieved by the application of the seven elements of safety: 1) management leadership, 2) assignment of responsibility, 3) maintenance of safe working conditions, 4) establishment of safety training, 5) an accident record system, 6) medical and first aid systems, and 7) acceptance of personal responsibility by the employee. How the Longview pulp and paper mill of the Longview Fibre Company has implemented each of the elements is described.
