Abstract
Stress analyses of Nb3Sn superconductors during normal operation have been performed during the conceptual design phase for the toroidal field coils and central solenoid of the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor. For the toroidal field coils the `wind and react´ and `react and wind´ alternative superconductors have been studied in detail by numerical methods. As for the central solenoid, on the basis of numerous numerical analyses an analytical model is propose to calculate the maximum bursting hoop stress in the conductor´s jacket
