Abstract :
Summary form only given. The New York Times declared 2012 as the year of the Massive Online Open Courses (MOOC). This also proves that MOOC is the latest and the most successful development in online education. These online courses are designed for large-scale participation, freely available with free access to all course materials, available through any web browser on any mobile device or computer The talk summarizes the main features of MOOCs, the history and the place of MOOC in Educational Delivery Models. The major players in the MOOC Universe and the two branches of MOOC, namely the The Stanford and MITx version and the rhizomatic version, are discussed. The second part of the talk deals with the future of MOOC, and expected advantages and disadvantages, the possible business orientation and the author´s view, expectations and suggestions are summarized. In the last part the Óbuda University´s initiative in MOOCs, called K-MOOC, its aims, realization, the first experiences and future plans are outlined.
