Abstract :
The authors describe experiments that have contributed to the understanding of the physics of PEOS (plasma erosion opening switches). A theoretical switch model was studied and it was in agreement with experimental results. A power multiplication of 2.6 and pulse compression of 5 were obtained on the SIDONIX I generator. A PEOS system will be tested on the AGLAE II pinch diode to enhance plasma homogeneity. It is concluded that the PEOS system can improve and extend the operation of existing pulse power devices
