Abstract :
We demonstrate a record repeaterless transmission distance of 285 km over standard single-mode fiber at 10.664 Gb/s. A span loss of 60 dB with a total dispersion of 4850 ps/nm were simultaneously overcome using a chirp managed laser. High launch power coupled with low extinction ratio are shown to be key parameters in achieving long unrepeatered links.
