Abstract
The characteristics of rotary transformers can be successfully simulated by axisymmetric finite element analysis. Stator and rotor inductances, combinational inductances, leakage inductances, and coupling coefficients are calculated and compared with data measured from a commercial product. The calculated data are in good agreement with the measured ones. The finite element analysis can be used for the selection of suitable ferrite materials and evaluation of the characteristics of rotary transformers
