Abstract :
The TRIUMF KAON Factory proposal includes a fast cycling booster ring to accelerate protons from 450 MeV to 3 GeV. The ring will operate at 50 Hz and contain twenty-four dipole and forty quadrupole magnets. The design and performance of the prototype 50-Hz quadrupole are discussed. The magnet is designed to operate with combined DC and AC current and to have very low harmonics and eddy current losses. Attention is given to the steel design, the coil design and eddy current calculations
