Abstract :
A computer-aided motor tester that is very flexible is described. It can be used to test any motor or motor system that operates on ac power. The system was especially designed for testing induction motors and electronically controlled motors. Synchronous waveform data sampling is used instead of meters or instrument converters. Three computers are strategically employed to sample data, control the test, and process the data. For induction motors, the new system has been useful in clarifying the dynamic test. Per-cycle evaluations of data based on instantaneous samples have provided dynamic test data that are both fast and accurate.
