Abstract :
A new implementation of digital FIR and IIR filters which takes advantage of the availability of tri-state logic for modularity and extensibility is outlined. The filter is a time-based design and uses a single multiplier. The sequence of operations for a second-order IIR filter with such an implementation is illustrated with the aid of a block diagram.
