Abstract :
An experiment was carried out to investigate the effect of CaO and SiO2 additives on the magnetic and physical properties of Sr-Zn W-type hexagonal ferrite. The specimens were prepared by the conventional manufacturing method without atmosphere control. It was found that the magnetic properties of SrO·2ZnO·8Fe2 O3 are considerably improved on adding 1 wt% CaO and SiO2 together. The optimum condition of making magnets with suitable properties are as follows: chemical analysis composition: Sr 0.8442+Zn2.2692+Fe2.269 2+Fe1.802+Fe14.844 3+Ca0.1612+Si0.1404+ O27; semisintering condition: 1275°C×1 h in air; sintering condition: 1225°C×0.5 h in air. The magnetic properties are Jm=0.438 T, Jr=0.402 T, Hc J=92.4 kA/m, HcB=88.8 kA/m, (BH)max=20.3 kJ/m3, Tc=393°C, HA=968 kA/m, KA=2.11×105 J/m3, and nB =32.8 μB
