The professional work of Dr Balthasar van der Pol are reviewed. Dr. van der Pol was born in Utrecht, the Netherlands, on January 27, 1889. He graduated cum laude in physics from the University of Utrecht in 1916. On October 6, 1959, Dr. Balth. van der Pol passed away peacefully in his home at Wassenaar, the Netherlands.
