Abstract
To evaluate the operation of an electrostatic precipitator (ESP) at pressurized fluidized bed combustor (PFBC) conditions, the Denver Research Institute (DRI) high-pressure high-temperature test electrostatic precipitator was used to measure the electrical operating characteristics and collection efficiencies for an operating pressure of 640 kPa (6.4 bar). Electrical operating characteristics were measured for three different electrodes, and collection efficiency was measured for one of these electrodes, with both negative and positive corona and temperatures near 870°C (1600°F). Collection efficiencies were also measured for negative corona at temperatures of 743° and 821°C (1370° and 1510°F). A description of the precipitator system test conditions and test results is given below.
