Abstract
A computer-controlled test set is described which enables completely automatic measurements of resistance thermometers by comparison with a standard resistance thermometer. The automation involves heating control of a 3-zone oven, measurement data request, and data evaluation. The method of comparing measurements is to replace the "time consuming" temperature fixed point calibration procedure with those resistance thermometers the measurement accuracy of which is worse than 10 mK in the range of 0°C to 500°C. With appropriate resistance thermometers the extension of measurement range up to 1000°C is possible without any variation of the test set.
