Abstract :
It has been verified by calculation and experiment that in the multijunction thermal converter, the Thomson effect in regions near the ends of the heater is a main source of the ac-dc transfer error. A special converter with "guard couples" has been designed to reduce the error due to the end effects. The total transfer error of this converter is estimated to be less than I ppm.
