Abstract :
The potential application of geotomography in providing estimates of underground geophysical properties, with particular emphasis on temperature distribution, is discussed. Rock attenuation rate profiles and rock acoustic velocity profiles are produced using electromagnetic and seismic transmission sources, respectively. These profiles are superimposed such that the velocity profile predominates in yielding the delineation of underground materials while the attenuation rate profile is used to estimate the temperature distribution. The approach is demonstrated using simulated data.
