Abstract :
The distribution of transport and induced currents in superconducting wires and flowing between the wires of a multiwire transposed cable is examined. Theoretical dependences for low-level excitation conditions are described. It is shown that the distribution of currents flowing between separate wires as well as the distribution of coupling losses is determined by two components, one of which attains a maximum at the end of the cable, while the other one becomes maximum at the cable´s axis. The correlation of components and its dependence on the cable´s design is determined. It has been found that at low excitation level the transport current has virtually no influence on the distribution of currents flowing between separate wires; hence, its influence on coupling losses is also negligible. Results of numerical analyses for the extracritical external field change rates and different transport currents are shown
