            Abstract : 
For automatic precision attenuation measurements, the double phase-modulation technique has been proposed, which employs two kinds of phase modulation instead of the amplitude modulation used in the modulated subcarrier method. The technique is analyzed theoretically and a 10-GHz automatic attenuation measurement system is constructed and tested.
