  • Abstract
A numerical investigation on the dynamic behavior of self-pulsating three-section distributed feedback (3S-DFB) lasers has been carried out in great detail using a time-domain travelling-wave model. For the first time, the system parameters of the recovered clock, such as the conditions for clock recovery and the jitter of the recovered clock, have been calculated, also considering a realistic data signal of a 213 - 1-bit sequence affected by chirp, jitter, and limited extinction ratio. This analysis has confirmed the great potential of these 3S-DFB devices.
