Abstract
In 1976, the S2ESC was chartered to develop the first IEEE software engineering standards for practitioners, organizations, and educators with the vision of improving: the effectiveness and efficiency of software engineering processes; communications between acquirers and suppliers; and the quality of delivered software and systems containing software. The S2ESC has made numerous contributions to the software engineering community over the past three decades, and it continues to ensure that the community´s products and services reflect current best practice and remain relevant and valued.
