Abstract
Significant advances in some of the more specialized branches of electrical engineering are sampled. Especially noteworthy are progress in unmanned vehicles for exploring ocean depths; the building of a prototype, six-legged rover named Amber (for Autonomous Mobile Exploration Robot) and its testing on a full-scale, Mars-like terrain; an array of probes that speeds testing of complex antennas; and a new record in the hunt for the largest prime numbers.<>
